Canon eos r raw file download

If I was a landscape photographer, or just doing mostly stills subjects and the like I would probably go for this camera. It is remarkable that the skill has developed since they did the images for the Nikon Z7! These images are largely gorgeous, in terms of lighting, composition, and subject. The Nikon images I am shooting the A7IiI currently. But since my subjects are mostly people I tend to find myself playing with the orange and yellow channels.

I am more likely to just use canon jpegs than Sony, and canon files then to be an easier start for when I want to just to general corrections such as shadows, highlights and contrast. Just wanted to add. For example The IBIS and joystick especially to a long way to allowing for the capturing of images you might either miss or not have as clean. This to me justifies sticking to Sony and doing the extra PP work. For me anyways. I am looking at both those brands to switch.

Why is that interesting to me? I used to use Nikon for landscapes and Fuji 16mp sensor for people. I am looking to invest and get a good and solid solution to invest in to do both and spend less time in post.

The 24mp Fuji is for me just painful to work with in LR.. I was Hoping for the Zee whatever to change that but to me its a new chip of a known block to me. Well I tend to keep coming back to canon because I prefer the look of the images that comes out of it.

I had the D when I first started photography, and tired out a D of my friends when I switched maybe the fact he had a zeiss planar on there wasn't fair to nikon. But I find I feel the same on sony, that craving for canon colors. Sure I can PP the sony files, but I find that color manipulation can always leave you with this feeling that something is off. My advice to you is to wait.

If you like nikon colors then why not stick with them? Once the proper reviews are out you can decide to go for a Z body or not. The Z-bodies closest to sony A7 series than the canon in terms of features. You would also be able to adapt the lenses you already own. A manufacturer would have the absolute comparative advantage if someone will take a picture of the beautiful lady in the first raw of seats while performing the Melissanides vault the very moment while in the air and the image is well framed, colour balanced, perfectly exposed and sharp, using this manufacturer's camera and lens Here is a link for a photo that I can see the character of the RF 50 1.

Photos like that remind us that 30MP is probably more resolution than anyone wants for portraiture. That level of magnification makes perfectly healthy skin look dry and crusty. I can be short about this as a Nikon user : fro me these images impress me more than the images taken by nikon z.

Good you Canon! Fuji still has these half sized xtrans sensors. So fortunate that Canon and Nikon now offer alternatives to get rid of that nonsense. We need to see more images from Z6.

During the launch, everything was about Z7, but Z7 has too many megapickles. The 50mm seems to be a great lens. Just like with the Z NEFs - hopping for better results with final ACR release , although I can see already , that shadows recovery people on boat leave harsh grainy pattern as all Canon sensors did it before. I noticed this image.

It appears that he lifted the entire image perhaps in a hurry to publish the images but with a better processing job might look better. Maybe this was the intent of the image to show the deficiency. But, I can work with this DR although I'd want better. Fantastic photography samples creations let down by the Canon system.

Dull to decent colors glass magnified with an image sensor to be appealing. Yup glass has some resolution. And sensor and processor some DR. Too expensive versus value for me. I happen to be laying off the vaping. I consider myself a half-decent photographer. Not to worry. I only started noticing when I was shooting both Nikon and Sony at the same time. A big no no if you are shooting for money, you will waste a lot of time creating a consistent look. This will push both cameras' and lenses colour together.

ColorChecker Passport. I'm surprised more photographers don't know how make profiles - or why to make them. Most pro wedding photgraphers don't even know all of the menu options from their camera, neither the cameras full capabilities.

They don't know anything about camera color profiles. Just saying. And honestly I do not care about all the workarounds that are possible. You just start using a system and you will see pretty quickly if it is a good match for you or your taste or not. I have Canon and Fuji and they are pretty different.

I want less work so I want go back to Canon. Now they have an option available and it seems to produce the results I am used to and which I like. Ok, so use either the profile that Adobe made if you are using ACR , or the profile you made, it's not a work-around. Make you own with your own camera gear - it's not a workaround it's a direct profile that is applied instead of the Adobe profile.

A workaround is applying loads of corrections over the Adobe profile, make your own profile. One you've tried it you'll be recommending it to others. I was skeptical like you, then I thought what is there to lose?!! To say honest, I like this photos very much even in JPG And colours are good.

It seems to me new EOS R system is good tool. Canon R looks like a machine made for serious image makers. Its colour output is nothing short of stunning. I'm impressed with the JPEGs. I used to play with RAW but little time these days. These images look fantastic. I'm pretty sure most of the new cameras that are out now can do the same. We are very blessed to have so many choices. I shoot with a 5D4 but I would love to have the same sensor in a mirrorless body.

It really is a good sensor. Great job on the images guys! Everyone is praising the colors but does it matter when you shoot raw? DXO Optics Pro has color profiles for so many cameras which you can apply to your raw files or am I missing somethig here? Of course when you have to deliver your results asap you want to have great SOOC jpegs but other than that does it really matter?

A stronger CFA is capturing more than just color science. There is a quality to each pixel which is especially noticeable in skin. The Sony sensor cameras Nikon have terrible skin quality. No amount of PP can fix or invent information that was never captured. The data is there, learn to use good extraction and editing software. No need to invent, or interpolate. Yes, Nikon engineers some of its own sensors. Learn how to edit. Just being able to move sliders around in software doesn't mean you know how to edit.

It just means you know how to move sliders around. Seriously, the colors are dull and muted. As most of the recent Canons except 6D2. Whoever tuned that CFA and profiles is a frikkin hero. Take the same portrait with a 50D and a D You will never make the D look like the 50D.

The 50D shows far more correct information. Which is why you try to match the d to the 50D and not the other way around. I really wanted to keep the d but its a landscape camera only. Dont even bother pointing it at peoples skin compared to a strong CFA camera like the 50D. Well, as for selling your A, that only shoots lossy raws, which make it not great for subtleties of colour--not limited to "skin". What can help with colour subtly, and this is illegal colour science, is the use of optically better lenses.

Don't answer, since unless I already have the raws shot with those lenses, I'm not going to bother to look up what they can do colour-wise. Maybe my name should be CFA. It has nothing to do with color science or lenses. Those things make a huge difference but im not talking about them. This is about the strength of the CFA having a large effect on pixel quality, most noticeable in skin.

Texture and tonality. It just has to have a weak enough CFA to cause pixel quality to be worse than a 5Dm2 and other known good skin quality cameras. The 80D is weak also, and DPR even state in their review that it has worse color than the Canons before it.

There needs to be a revolution in sensor tech to achieve all 3 without the sacrifices going on now. Colour, assuming a good lens and shooting raw, is simply not a problem with any of the non-Canon names I listed. Color profiles in software are generally not that great for Sony. Adobe fixed theirs with their massive profile upgrade, but Capture One still looks horrendous.

Good thing I only have to use it for work, where they already have a predefined workflow for color. I'll stick with ACR for my Sonys. Also, compression only affects highest contrast edges. Faces and skin don't have anything like that, so they're not affected. This is a physical component of a camera called a CFA which affects the image before and after any PP.

I spent the money on exactly what showed the desired results. Before and after PP. Smart-ass think youre smart eh. Have you had a 5Dm2 and D at the same time, take photos of the model, review the photos while she is still there and see? And the model agrees. Its not the same question as: "Which of these photos color do you prefer? That is a color science question. The site I use shows the Canon has delta error of only 3.

Both are bad as far as delta error. But one is much better than the other. Same old boring look eh? True skin rendition is boring? Says the guy that obviously needs more PP skills or a camera that can actually display true skin or you wouldnt call true skin rendition boring.

Boring because you cant achieve it. You still dont understand my argument was never about colour science even though I wrote so specifically in nearly every post.

This is obviously not a professional photoshoot and I am just a hobbyist amateur but I don't like the photos where the model is iluminated by artificial lighting and the distant background is quite dark.

Other than that, nothing new under the sun really but the possibility to adapt EF -s lenses and have them performing as native has its appeal. Anyhow, I am just going to hold on to my A7 MK I which delivers great IQ and although the AF is not the latest state of the art technology I still really enjoy the controls layout and adapting old vintage glass.

For action requiring swift AF, my 40D still delivers great results at 4k resolution. Your A7 Mark 1 delivers only lossy raws, yes assuming the use of an optically very good lens, one can see.

If I remember it correctly, DPR said that the compressed raws are not problem unless you push them hard in postprocessing. So yes, the A7 MK I still delivers qreat IQ and perhaps even greater DR than this new Canon which would make it better suited for landscapes despite 6 mpix lower resolution. Anyhow I don't find the IQ of A7 MK I a limiting factor, unless you do a lot of night time photography with artificial light sources where you can experience sensor reflections.

And then there is the control layout - no less than 4 control wheels, exluding the mode selector, with direct access to shutter, aperture, iso and exposure compensation. I already have and had so many bodies and lenses buy I keep coming back to A7 for the pleasure of using the thing with adapted lenses like the great FDs which I have 28, 35 2.

I also found out how to calibrate these to focus to infinity at focusing ring hardstop which makes it great landscape combo. Can't see the need for something only marginally better. The background will always look dark as the model has white clothing regardless of light.

I don't care what DPR said about lossy compressed raws, here limited to Sony's lossy raw, if you read what I said above, I explicitly said assuming the use of a good lens, one can see the difference.

I do appreciate that mega pixel counts beyond about 10 really don't mean much, unless you want to print a poster or crop to the centre bigly. Then I think most using this Canon for landscapes it's not really that kind of camera would simply use a graduated ND filter--so split in the middle. Are you claming that you can see the difference without reference point or pixel-peeping? That the potential customer would object?

If not then it is only academical point which has no anchor in real world usage. I don't know what you mean by "reference point", unless you mean "the same image captured under the same light, at the same time, with another full framed camera of similar pixel count using the same very good lens".

Now, of course, the A7 Mark I is quite capable of capturing good photos of interesting events, so those would interest many potential customers or viewers. Many good photos don't have very high image quality. That link is only about artifact correct. That's not the problem I see with Sony lossy raws. Or that's not the primary problem I see. Please remember howaboutraw is a well known troll who likes to manufacturer facts with zero proof.

The lossy raws is a big problem with trolls like howaboutraw who never shoots any photographs or even uses Sony cameras. For people who actually use the cameras its not a problem. And yet, assuming the use of a good lens, the deficiencies in Sony's lossy raws are easy to see.

Nikon does better lossy raws, that's why I specify Sony. Keep telling yourself that I've never tried a Sony camera, if that affirms you less than accurate world view. I have hundreds of nice images, from 15, shots. My lenses all have aberrations, and the camera has quirks; just like any other tool I still have my A7 and while I don't care for its AF which is pretty crap in low light the IQ is still very good and as I mentioned never had any client of mine saying any of my photos had artifacts that they didn't care for.

I have had bad feedback from sometimes excess noise or for a photo being slightly oof but never about compression artifacts that trolls like howaboutraw have a problem about. Its up to you if you want to belive someone who says they use a camera but offer no proof whatsoever or you can belive someone who still has The camera and can prove it easily :.

Wow with so many cameras you use could you share some of your work with us. It will be fascinating to see thousands of your photos clicked with so many cameras :. You know damned well what I meant by "used". Just stop. You have no dog in this hunt and are just trolling. You've both been 'RAWd' by the resident idiot. It's a rite of passage. Welcome to the 'big boys club'. The "dog in this hunt" is the fact of image quality impairment when shooting lossy raw only Sony cameras.

It is immaterial that I don't own these Sony bodies. I'm not commenting on the AF capacities here. Keep telling yourself the lossy raws don't impair Sony's IQ.

Clearly that's what Sony management is doing. HAR, an alien parachuted on planet earth in front of a computer opened on any DPR webpage comment section. Being very smart from an advanced race, he would immediately notice that comment threads running over 25 replies always contain many instances of the symbol 'HowaboutRAW'. Keep in mind the alien only sees symbols and does not know what they mean What would the alien think?

Keep flogging that horse Try reading the whole paragraph next time, before you comment. The one above you truncated be real short. By way of non-Sony example, from my raws I'm pretty clear that the Leica TL lenses are just very good optically, not amazing. And yes, as a general rule, which can be broken, 12 bit raws don't look right even when shot with very good lenses. As a general rule, someone who makes outlandish claims with zero proof is considered a troll and not someone who should be taken seriously.

Not taking any names here but there is one such person who claims to use almost every camera and lens out there and yet doesn't show even a shred of evidence of the same. It is not the only problem with audio CDs.

Not a great surprise given your repeated disparagement of a pretty basic point. Quick follow-up: nice shots Richard and Rishi.

I'm impressed with the results you pulled from the gear especially considering the little time you likely had with it. Well done. If you formatted the card, this may be more of a challenge but losing images might be worth a try. So when you say you could see them on the card in Bridge, that byitself, doesn't mean much to me.

You do not say how old your computer is but you can also try to turn on Use Software Rendering but that's a guess as it usually applies to raw images and if you have images on a card, you are probably taking jpg images. One last question mostly for the future : were these images all taken at the same time or were you just "holding" them there and had not gotten around to downloading them into your computer.

If so, please keep in mind that any digital asset e. Every time I go off and take photos I come home and place them on my computer and then back up those files to another hard drive which is also backed up to the clouds. I'm sure you've heard the montra that if you house is burning down you run and grab your photos, and then everything else.

I do not need to do that. Oh, one last thought: if you open up that card in your Finder, do you see the images there? If so, try dragging them from the card to a folder on your desktop. Formatting-I only do it after I have transferred files to my computer and typically I wait until the photos have been edited to delete them from my card and then I format before I use it again.

I format in camera only. I formatted this card only once when it was taken out of the pacakge and before I used the card. I can't get the photos onto my computer at all which is the issue. They will not drag off any memory card I have tried I have tried 3 separate brand new cards as I get that error and information I posted.

The images that were lost were raw files-the card is a 64GB card. They were taken all in one session. I also come home and move the images to my computer, an external as well as a off site back up, so I am covered there. I tried moving them from the memory card via finder and it worked?!! Why will it work from there and not from the icon that comes up on my desktop any idea? Gah, so I moved the files from the card to my desktop via finder and I ejected the card via my computer.

I now went to go open it again and its telling me the card is not readable by my computer? One more thing, I notice these cr3 files come up as "adobe document" and my old cr2 files come up as canon raw file in the description when I open the folder containing them on my computer.

Would this affect anything? First off, bigger whew great that the photos were not lost. Occasionally someone has done something "not good" and truly looses a bunch of family photos.
